Intended learning outcome Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: - efficiently retrieve information from databases and use tools in databases, - grasp the importance of bibliometrics and its relevance to research evaluation and literature studies, - understand patents as a concept and an information source, - discuss the principles of Open Access and Open Science Publishing. Admission requirements No prior knowledge is required. Target group: Early stage PhD student Content The course will cover databases and search strategies, bibliometrics and research field visualisation, patents and Open Access. Language English Literature Articles and other materials available via Canvas. Assessment A written assignment, participation in discussions and attendance are mandatory to pass the course. Students may be examined in courses on which they are enrolled within one year after the start of the course. After this time, no missing assignments may be submitted and participants should re-apply for the course at a different time. *** - Stand-by list means that the course is fully booked but you may be offered a seat place if one becomes available.
