Number of credits: 1,5 HEC Number of participants: 15 Aim The aim of this course is to develop your personal efficiency in your everyday work. By introducing you to simple tools that aim to help you organise yourself and the time you have available, you will be better able to maintain focus on what you need and want to get done. Intended learning outcome By the end of the course successful students will have: 1. Guided attention and focus on key future outcomes 2. Prioritize in relation to short- and long-term demands 3. Increased consciousness about your performance, limitations and possibilities 4. Developed strategies for increased focus and well-being 5. Communicate appropriately with colleagues about resources 6. Start tasks/projects in time, estimate time realistically, schedule tasks/projects and complete them too 7. Plan and review daily and weekly to sustain progress 8. Evaluate own habits to ensure optimum use of resources 9. Be familiar with the workflow system and be able to develop strategies for working remotely Admission requirements No prerequisites. Content This course uses the educational approach of experiential learning, and a learning plan and logbook are to be compiled as an outcome of the course. The concept of Flow will be introduced and investigated using its components: focus, learning state and outcome. Literature will also be provided for discussion as well as practical suggestions for handling emails and other communication in a way that supports focus of the mind. Running schedule The course consists of five half-days and individual work between the sessions. There will be intervals of approximately one week between the meetings, with individual work and exercises to be completed between the sessions. Assessment Full attendance at all sessions and a pass in a written exam where you reflect upon what you have learned and your action plan. Grading U, G. Students can be examined in the courses they have enrolled on within one year of the start. After the expiry date no missing assignments are admissible and a participant should re-apply for the course. *** - Examinations may be sat within a year of the course start. After the expiry date, no assignments will be admitted and participants will have to apply to join the next course. - Stand-by list means that the course is fully booked but you may be offered a seat place if one becomes available. In this If that is the case, a notification will be sent to you. - Cancellation of participation should be done as soon as possible and no later than one week before the course start via the link in the confirmation email. In case of cancellation less than 7 days before the start, send an email to genericskills@chalmers.se. Cancellations later than one week will result in a late cancellation fee of 1000 SEK.
