Number of credits: 1,5 HEC Number of participants: 20 Aim The aim of the course is to give you a basic and holistic view of project work and how projects can be planned and delivered. The emphasis is on simple, practical tools that you can use in your research work. The entire project workflow is discussed, with particular emphasis on the preparation phase. The focus will be on you and your development in the role of project manager beginning with examples from your daily work. Both research projects and industrial projects will be addressed. Intended learning outcome On successful completion of the course you will be able to: - describe and use some practical, easy-to-use, basic methods for project management - apply the project format in your daily work, e.g. creating plans and manage risks - describe the main roles and their responsibilities in a project organization - adapt your role as project manager to different types and stages of projects. Admission requirements No specific requirements. Content The following topics will be discussed during the course: - think before you act! - setting objectives and limitations, - visualizing the project, - planning the work, - clarifying roles and interacting with the environment, - successfully bringing a project to fruition, - managing stakeholders and practicing leadership. Most of the group tasks involve actual cases, and you are invited to bring your own project to the course. Language English Literature Materials will be distributed before and during the course as well as a list of reference literature. Assessment Full attendance at all sessions, and an oral presentation of how and when to start using what the student has learned, related to the Intended learning outcomes. Grading U, G. Students can be examined in the courses they have enrolled on within one year of the start. After the expiry date no missing assignments are admissible and a participant should re-apply for the course. *** - Note that for this course you need to cancel your seat at least 2 weeks prior to course start! - Stand-by list means that the course is fully booked but you may be offered a seat place if one becomes available.
